About Green Stick Army
People-powered care for the places we share.
Green Stick Army is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting environmental improvement through community engagement and training programs about sustainable practices.
Our story
It started with a simple tool.
A litter grabber with a green handle. A bag. A neighbor willing to join. That simple idea grew into Green Stick Army — a community of volunteers who believe in the power of collective action to create a greener, more sustainable future for all.
Today we serve communities in Minneapolis–St. Paul, Minnesota, our primary base, and Kansas City, Missouri, through cleanups, education and hands-on programs.

What we believe
Our values
Collective action
Change happens faster together. Our "army" is a community of volunteers, not a military — just neighbors showing up.
Stewardship
We care for shared spaces as if they were our own backyards, because they are.
Education
Practical knowledge turns good intentions into lasting habits.
Welcoming to all
Families, students, retirees and corporate teams — everyone has a place with a green stick.
Where we work
Rooted in two Midwest communities
Primary base
Minneapolis–St. Paul, Minnesota
Our home base in the Twin Cities, where lakes, parks and neighborhood blocks give us endless reasons to grab a stick and get outside.
Community presence
Kansas City, Missouri
A growing community presence in Kansas City, bringing hands-on cleanups and sustainability education to neighbors along the Missouri.
Every stick makes a difference.
